NASA has successfully launched Artemis 2, its first astronaut mission to the moon since 1972.

Liftoff took place on April 1, sending four astronauts on a 10-day trip around the moon aboard the Orion spacecraft. Splashdown occurred on Friday, April 10.

NASA's post-splashdown press briefing has ended and I think it's safe to say that the space agency is over the moon at the amazing success of its Artemis 2 moon mission. All four Artemis 2 astronauts are in good health and will return home to NASA's Johnson Space Center on Saturday, April 11, one day after their smooth splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

"Welcome to our moonshot," Lori Glaze, NASA's Artemis program manager, told reporters during a triumphant televised press briefing at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
